Privacy Policy
CineVault (the "Application") is made by FaEr ("we"). This text explains what data the Application and our website process and how. In short: your film archive, file names, watch history and notes stay on your computer only; they are not sent to us.
1. Data that stays on your computer
The library (film and series records, file paths, your ratings, notes, journal, watch history), your settings and downloaded pictures are kept only on this computer, in the Application's own data folder. We cannot access them.
2. When the Application connects to the internet
- Update and licence check: When it starts, at most once a day, the Application asks our server for the newest version number and for the list of refunded orders (the licence of a refunded order stops being valid). Nothing about you is sent with these requests.
- Anonymous usage message (optional, off by default): If you turn it on under Settings > Privacy, at most once a day a randomly generated installation id, the Application version and the Windows version are sent. Its only purpose is to know how many installations are in use. Your archive, file names and personal details are not sent. You can turn it off at any time.
- Problem report (only if you send it): The message you write in the "Report a problem" form, your email address if you give one, and the technical details if ticked (version, system, latest errors) reach us. The technical details hold no file names or folder paths.
- Film information: TMDB, OMDb and subtitle services are used with your own API keys and only when you ask for data. Requests to these services are subject to those services' privacy policies; we do not see them.
- Translation (optional): When you press "Translate", Wikipedia/Wikidata is asked about the IMDb id for a biography. If you entered a DeepL key, the text to translate is sent to DeepL.
3. Purchase
Payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy (the "seller"). We do not see or store your card details. To deliver your licence key we receive your name and email address from the seller and keep them as the licence record. The licence key holds only your name and is checked offline on your computer.
4. Retention
We keep licence records (name, email, order number) as long as legal retention duties and support require; problem reports for at most 24 months; anonymous usage records for 24 months after the last message.
5. Your rights
Under applicable data-protection law (including GDPR and the Turkish KVKK) you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data and object to its processing. Write to destek@faer.com.
6. Cookies
On our website, we use no cookies or tracking tools.
7. Changes
If we update this text we will publish it with a new date.
